Digital vs. "Analog" Survey
I recently got feedback from professionals in the children's media/books/entertainment industries about the illustration format of Squishy Blueberry books. The conversations inspired me to consider using the original hand drawings for the next book, now that I've become more disciplined and skilled at the craft. I think both styles have their own charm, and would love your input before I continue production on the next book.
Consider the overall LOOK and FEEL of the images below - and share with me which one you enjoy more in the context of a children's book. I suggest you avoid analyzing specific details (these are not the final pictures - I will fix Squishy's foot in the analog version), and instead focus on the feeling.
Note that the analog/hand drawn picture above (right) has been cleaned up in Photoshop. However, below - the right-hand-side drawings have NOT (yet) been cleaned up - so I ask you, if possible, to use your imagination a little and envision that they are cleaned up with some digital background colors, etc. I will have more cleaned up samples soon.
